Veronica Guerin. The Life and Death of a Crime Reporter - Emily O'Reilly

Thirty-six year old crime reporter with the SUNDAY INDEPENDANT, Veronica Guerin was the first journalist to be murdered in Ireland as a direct consequence of her work; investigating the shadow figures of Dublin's underworld. Shot by a motor cycle pillion passenger while stopped at traffic lights on the outskirts of Dublin at 1pm on 26 June 1996, this was the third time she had been attacked. Her death was one of the biggest news stories in Ireland in years and profoundly shocked the country.
