Julie De Vraie is young, impressionable and passionate. She lives, however, at a most passionless time. Against the backdrop of the 'Emergancy' at home, the chaos in Europe, the dominance of the Catholic Church and her own Protestant upbringing, she searches for freedom. To be free at this time is to be an outcast she becomes imprisoned in a deep chaos of her own.
